Blue Skies

From the plane window - a blue sky portal

Blue skies always make me happy. I look out the window and smile. Windows become portals into happiness.

This week I flew down to cold Melbourne, but most of the time found pockets of blue sky and sunshine to keep the cold at bay.

Blue skies allow me to dream into the future as by nature I am an optimiset and even though there may be clouds on the horizon, patches of blue always gives me hope.

The painter Wassily Kandinsky wrote extensively about blue in his book Concerning the Spiritual in Art . He wrote that:

“The power of profound meaning is found in blue, and first in its physical movements (1) of retreat from the spectator, (2) of turning in upon its own centre. The inclination of blue to depth is so strong that its inner appeal is stronger when its shade is deeper. Blue is the typical heavenly colour.”

It is no coincidence that blue is still my favourite colour. It is both restful and joyful, soothing and dreamy. It was what I think of when I am attempting big projects, ideas that I need to transform into reality.

I have used a blue sky as background to advertise my free creativity course that will be starting in a week’s time. Metaphoric clouds can get in the way of creativity, can cause you to procrastinate or be stalled by the idea of perfection. But behind those clouds is the blue sky waiting.

Blue sky dreaming is my mantra. Thinking big and being creative daily lets me manifest my dreams. I know that being creative brings joy into my life, keeps me motivated and allows me to move through the day with better ease. I believe creativity is for everyone. I hope you can get creative too.

Clouds bring the blue sky into focus - bring a bit of turbulence into our life. Don’t let them stop you from flying!
