'Tessering' was a concept I first encountered when reading Madeleine L'Engle's classic science fantasy book A Wrinkle in Time (1963).
Tesseracts are five dimensional shapes. Tessering is a term described in L'Engle's book as a way to travel through time. A wrinkle in the fold of time is like a computer hyperlink, you jump or 'tesser' through layers of time.
Pages fold out to create multiple overlays of text and images.
