Stone Stories

A geo-narrative project in two artist residencies

During two artist residencies in Scotland and Iceland in 2022, I created a series of prints and artist books around stone stories.

In Scotland I photographed abandoned houses which I turned into argyrotype prints. In Iceland I created cyanotypes using the stones themselves.

This geo-narrative project explored the notion that the earth in all its elements is an animate entity. From ancient neolithic stones in the Outer Hebrides to the stones in the fjords in Stöðvarfjörður, Iceland, they hold the stories of time and place.

This project was supported by the NSW Government through Create NSW.
