A Café somewhere/anywhere
People often ask me where I am going to be travelling to next. They know I love travelling and do so at every opportunity. My favourite thing when I travel is to find a small café, order a drink and just sit and watch the world go by. There’s always something interesting to see, people at a market, boats going by, earnest conversations.
I can’t always travel. It’s expensive, it’s often hard going and it takes chunks of time. What I do instead is travel to a café, order a cappuccino and dream I am somewhere/anywhere with the sights and sounds of fishermen, people honking cars, goats meandering in the streets, even the odd camel train plodding past. Admittedly I do draw on some memories of those places I have already been to, but often those places have been blurred by time and memory.
Instead I remember the essence of an idea, some photo from a travel book or a TV show on the Mongolian steppes with yurts all around and yak tea (ooh glad I haven’t had to try that). My imagination runs wild I could be anywhere, sipping a short black or a Greek coffee in a cafe overlooking a harbour in the early morning light.
Which leads me to what I’ve been doing this week. Yes it involved travel (to north Queensland) and even a boat (crossing the two creeks into my brother’s property) and a café overlooking the beach. My favourite things. So now I am launching into the on-line world of creative courses and will be launching a very mini, first ever online course next week called Café Creative, a place to go to activate your creativity. There will be more about it in next week’s blog post so stay tuned.! I’m a bit excited just preparing for it.
