What The Sea Saw

What the eye sees might be a little different from what a high resolution scanner picks up. Experimenting with photograms on lumen prints means the images are ‘fixed’ through the lens of the digital scanner. While analogue photographic processes are used to create the print, the final image captures what the eye cannot discern. Perhaps it is what the sea sees.

Addiction

What is it like to be addicted? I’m worried that my brain cells are permanently affected. A short attention span and an insatiable appetitive for more. My phone has me in thrall. It’s in my pocket and its calling out to me, come and watch my Reels. Come and loose yourself in my stories. What to do?

Chop Wood, Carry Water

It is an incredibly humbling experience to feel vulnerable and unable to do simple tasks for ourselves. Ordinary activities like washing or cooking can seem impossible, yet there is joy in these routine activities which show we are alive and able to look after our own needs.

The future is now…

What interests us as a child circles back as our future comes forward to meet us. We can have many lives in one lifetime. I was a writer before I was a photographer. I made films before I wrote plays, made paper before I started screen printing.

What lies beyond the frame of a photograph or painting? Visual artists are also storytellers, they reveal and conceal, hinting at the back story, the why of their creations. As artists it is our job to dig deep within ourselves to find out our why, as this leads us also on the path to self discovery.
