Where do we put our feet and how do we walk? What are the marks we leave? The transience of life as expressed in pilgrims' footsteps was inspiration to entice me into the studio to reactivate my love of printmaking.
I’m drawn to rocks for inspiration, especially the bedrock upon which we build the structures of our lives. Looking closer, it is the striations and seam lines, the tiny holes in the rocks that are the most interesting. The cracks where change is most evident, bringing elemental forces in play.
Trying something new can extend your world view. From creating a ceramic stone and holding it in my hand, to linking this with US President John F Kennedy’s often quoted line “Ask not what your country can do for you – ask what you can do for your country.”
